I got this as an upgrade from the 3 row pals cummerbund they do. The idea was the velcro would suffice as a quicker method of changing the size if I had donned warm kit or wanted to make it tighter. They upgraded the order to the new design free of charge which came with its pros and cons. First of all the newer design uses what they call ‘biscuits’ to hold a rigid plastic strap to the rear of the plate carrier. So as opposed to the solid and trusty bar that passes through the pals and keeps the cummerbund in place at the rear, it’s held together with bungee, which ultimately defeated the point of me getting velcro attachment at the front because the bungee will naturally increase the size if I put warm kit on under my body armour. So Basically I’d complicated and made the front of my body armour higher profile for no reason. I definitely would have preferred to choose a method of attachment for the rear, as I can see the bungee breaking in the future under constant tension in the elements, but oh well. The only other issue is it would be good to have the option to attach the left cummerbund to the virtus body armour quick release system like the other cummerbunds they offer, and keep the Velcro on the right.
However as a newly released product I have no problem with the build quality and durability of the products materials. I definitely prefer the slimmer and lower profile 2 row as opposed to 3 row! The guys at Brittac actually made a 7 wide velcro pals panel for me which they don’t yet offer on the site which was definitely appreciated. So I can keep the 7 wide molle over the velcro cummerbund front attachment!

Many thanks for your review and great feedback on the new cummerbunds.
Regarding the plastic bar supplied with the previous version, these were never meant to run through the PALS slots on the rear and were there for the rear straps to run below so there would still be some breathing space. This is also the idea with the new biscuits, the strong 5mm elastic, if fitted correctly, should do just that, offer breathing space only and not adjust the front.
Another option if you prefer not to have this breathing space is tying the ends with paracord which does not have the elasticity. We can send you some to try.
Unfortunately, due to the PALS on the front of the vest, we would have to define the height you set the cummerbund side at to create a 2 row QR attachment, either at the top or bottom of the QR to run inline with the PALS attachment on the other side.
Thanks again and more pics will follow.
Dave.

Although I haven’t had time to attach and test the Crye upgrade cummerbund, what I can say is the craftsmanship and attention to detail is excellent. Low profile and much less rigid that the original Crye one that came with the plate carrier. I would go as far to say you could get away with it even if used with covert carriage.
I’ve used many cummerbunds and plate carriers in the past and I have to say this one surpasses expectations.
